Statement of Policy
terptree believes strongly in the importance of corporate social responsibility by UK businesses and will outline in this policy how the key principles are followed.
The key principles
1 - Competitiveness
terptree undertake responsible business practice ensuring a better quality of life for all. We do this by being highly aware of clients needs and understand that there is no such thing as 'one size fits all'. terptree are competitive in the marketplace by offering unique and bespoke services and ensuring that quality and attention to detail are always number one.
2 - Social community and culture of volunteering and giving
terptree offer corporate support to staff and interpreters in the form of informal training events, discussions and by being there when needed. terptree also offers support to interpreters undergoing training. This not only develops their untapped talent, but also provides them with information and advice regarding further training and development. Where possible, terptree will offer the opportunity to work shadow.
As an organisation that works closely with the Deaf community, it is important that terptree gives something back. terptree collaborates with local groups with the aim to establish events for the local community to attend. This brings people together and allows Deaf people access to information in their first language - British Sign Language (BSL).
We not only work with interpreters and the community, but also support local businesses where necessary in ensuring that their services are approachable and accessible for Deaf people.
3 - Governance and Transparency
terptree works to raise performance beyond the minimum legal standards and follows voluntary guidelines on relevant topics such as environmental and sustainability issues.
We monitor, evaluate and report our performance and are always looking to ways in which improvements can be made.
4 - Workplace
terptree are progressive in employment practice and ensure that all policies, Terms and Conditions and Contract of Services are up-to-date.
terptree also follow relevant policies such as The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

5- The environment and sustainability
Re-cycling and re-using
terptree are aware of the affect that companies can have on the environment and takes every possible preventative measure to ensure that our affects are minimal.
terptree actively re-cycles all non-confidential paperwork and also re-uses paper that is no longer needed. Any confidential paperwork is shredded and re-cycled where possible.
We also have the following statement in the signature of all our emails:

Fuel usage
As a company that believe in sustainability, we always ensure that we book the interpreter that is not only best-suited to the booking, but the nearest as well. This ensures that the fuel consumption is reduced.
E-technology
terptree is developing the use of its technological processes and resources in order to minimise the affect on the environment.
terptree online www.terptree.com is able to accept bookings, send confirmations and deal with the administration of the business without needing to use any materials that would impact on the environment.
terptree believes in sustainable development and seeks to continue developing its processes for best effect.
